There’s something extra special about an intimate destination wedding. Without a long guest list and packed timeline, couples have more opportunities to slow down, be present and truly enjoy every moment together. That’s what made Taleeyah & Cameron’s wedding at Secrets La Romana so memorable.

Why Choose Secrets La Romana for Your Destination Wedding?

Located in beautiful Bayahibe, Secrets La Romana offers a different atmosphere from resorts along Bávaro Beach in Punta Cana. The water here is normally calm and crystal clear, creating a peaceful setting for couples looking for a relaxed, adults only wedding experience.

You may remember the property as Hilton La Romana Adults Only, but in 2025 it became part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection and now operates as Secrets La Romana. The change brought the signature Secrets experience to the resort while maintaining everything guests already loved about its beachfront location and tropical surroundings.

Couples can choose from several ceremony locations including the beach gazebo, oceanfront pergolas, tropical gardens and elegant indoor spaces making it easy to design a wedding that reflects their personal style. The resort’s dedicated onsite wedding coordinators work closely with couples throughout the planning process, and their customizable wedding packages help simplify organizing your decor and other special requests from a distance.

Apart from the wedding itself, guests have plenty to enjoy during their stay! The resort offers beautiful and well appointed suites, Preferred Club accommodations with additional amenities and upgraded services, multiple restaurants serving international cuisine like fresh seafood, Mediterranean dishes and Italian favourites, several pools, a full service spa and direct access to one of Bayahibe’s most picture perfect beaches.

For couples looking for a luxurious yet relaxed Dominican Republic beach wedding venue, Secrets La Romana offers a wonderful balance of romance, comfort and Caribbean charm.

Why Couples Love Getting Married in Bayahibe

Punta Cana is often the first place couples think of when planning a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic, but Bayahibe is a hidden gem that’s definitely worth considering! Located about an hour from Punta Cana International Airport on the island’s southeast coast, this charming beach town offers a quieter, more relaxed vibe while still being easily accessible for wedding guests travelling from abroad.

Unlike some areas of Punta Cana that have larger Atlantic waves, the Caribbean Sea coastline of Bayahibe is naturally sheltered and best known for being calm and crystal blue! Its peaceful beaches are perfect for swimming and relaxation, and is one of the best locations in the Dominican Republic for beachfront ceremonies and sunset portraits.

The area is also famous for its incredible natural beauty with lush tropical gardens, white sand beaches, swaying palm trees and stunning ocean views providing gorgeous backdrops for every part of your wedding day. Just offshore is the protected Cotubanamá National Park, home to vibrant coral reefs, marine life and the popular islands of Saona and Catalina all of which you and your guests can visit by private catamaran tour! Bayahibe is a favourite destination for couples who want to turn their wedding into an unforgettable vacation for family and friends.

For couples dreaming of a Dominican Republic beach wedding with a slightly more laid back feel, Bayahibe offers the best of both worlds. Luxury all-inclusive resorts like Secrets La Romana combine exceptional service with beautiful ceremony locations, while the surrounding area allows guests to explore the natural beauty and culture of the Dominican Republic.

Getting Ready

Wedding days always begin with a mix of excitement and anticipation, and Taleeyah & Cameron’s morning was no exception! One of our favourite things about smaller destination weddings is how involved everyone becomes. With only sixteen guests, everyone became part of the day’s story from the very start, sharing the entire experience together.

The ladies spent the morning together laughing, helping each other with final touches and enjoying every moment in their matching baby blue satin robes while the bride shined in classic white. When it was time to get dressed, Taleeyah looked absolutely breathtaking! Her gown featured intricate lace and delicate beaded details that caught the afternoon light beautifully while the dramatic train and flowing veil added an elegant, timeless feel. She truly glowed from the moment she stepped into her dress!

The guys spent the morning in their own suite, helping each other with jackets, cufflinks and bow ties while enjoying plenty of laughs along the way. Cameron’s royal blue suit brought a vibrant pop of colour to the day, while his matching bow tie added a polished finishing touch.

The colour palette for their guests attire was effortlessly elegant and perfect for a tropical destination wedding! The men were all dressed in black suits while the ladies wore dresses in different shades of light, royal and navy blue which photographed beautifully against the Caribbean backdrop.

First Look

Before making their way to the ceremony, Taleeyah & Cameron chose to share a private first look.

We love when couples include a first look in their timeline. It gives them a quiet opportunity to see each other without an audience, settle any nerves and simply enjoy a few uninterrupted moments together before the excitement begins. It also allows time for a few portraits before the ceremony, creating a more relaxed schedule later in the day.

And for these two, it was the perfect way to begin the next chapter of their story!

A Romantic Beachside Ceremony

As the afternoon gave way to early evening, guests gathered beside the resort’s elegant beachfront pergola for the ceremony. Constructed from warm wood and draped with flowing white chiffon, the pergola framed the turquoise Caribbean Sea beautifully without needing elaborate decorations. A small white altar table topped with a bouquet of white roses provided the only floral accent, proving that sometimes simplicity creates the most timeless look! Rows of white wooden chairs completed the scene, allowing the natural beauty of Bayahibe’s coastline to take centre stage.

The ceremony began at 5:30pm as the sunlight softened creating a warm glow that made the entire ceremony feel incredibly romantic. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows they had written themselves as their most important people surrounded them in the intimate setting.

After being pronounced husband and wife, everyone gathered for a celebratory champagne toast and group photos overlooking the ocean. Once their guests made their way to cocktail hour, the newlyweds a chance to enjoy one of our favourite parts of any destination wedding: golden hour portraits.

Portraits

The best thing about scheduling a late afternoon ceremony is slipping away for newlywed portraits just as the sun begins to dip toward the horizon. This time of day is often referred to as the “golden hour” when the light becomes softer, warmer and incredibly flattering, creating a natural glow not found at any other time of day.

Secrets La Romana offers a variety of beautiful tropical backdrops within a short walk of the ceremony location, allowing us to create a diverse gallery of beautiful wedding photos without taking the couple away from their guests for long. We began in the resort’s beautifully maintained gardens with tropical greenery swaying palms creating a peaceful setting for romantic portraits. From there we made our way to the beach where the calm Caribbean Sea reflected the warm evening light adding a soft, dreamy glow to every photo.

One of our favourite locations at Secrets La Romana is their pier in front of The Grill restaurant. With a gorgeous view across to the Bayahibe marina, it’s one of the most iconic photo spots at the resort. As the sky turned from soft blue to shades of pink and purple, Taleeyah & Cameron shared a few quiet moments together while we captured some of the final portraits of the day.

It’s during this part of their wedding day that couples finally have a chance to pause. The ceremony is over, the excitement settles for a moment and they get to enjoy being husband and wife. Those genuine smiles, relaxed conversations and spontaneous laughter are the moments that become favourites when couples look back through their gallery!

While beautiful portraits are always important, our goal is never to create images that feel overly posed or staged. We focus on capturing authentic interactions that reflect each couple’s personalities and the emotions of the day. Those are the photos that mean the most for years to come!

Reception

After their newlywed photos, Taleeyah & Cameron joined their family and friends for an intimate private dinner reception, set on an oceanside platform near The Grill restaurant. Rather than hosting a large reception with a long evening of formalities, they chose something that suited them perfectly! Their closest loved ones gathered around one large table to share a wonderful meal together, celebrate the newlyweds and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that had defined the entire day.

Intimate weddings create opportunities for conversations that simply aren’t possible at larger celebrations. Every guest has time with the couple, everyone shares in the laughter and the evening feels more like a special family gathering than a traditional reception. Taleeyah & Cameron’s wedding was a wonderful reminder that destination weddings don’t have to be extravagant to be extraordinary. Keeping the guest list small allows couples to focus on what matters most: spending meaningful time together and creating memories with the people they love.
