Let me start by saying that Macao Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Punta Cana. The location is stunning, and it looks amazing in photos. (In fact, we take couples and families here for photoshoots all the time.) So whenever we get the chance to shoot a wedding at Dreams Macao Beach, we jump for joy!
Below I’m going to tell you all about the resort and their wedding packages. And then I’ll share real wedding photos with you from Lucas and Jamie’s special day.
If you’re here for the photos, feel free to scroll on down – we’ve got lots of them for you to see! And if you’re looking for a resort to host your destination wedding, you should find a ton of helpful info as well. So let’s get started!
Dreams Macao Beach
This 5-star resort is all-inclusive and family-friendly. It’s also part of the World of Hyatt brand so you know it has a trustworthy reputation. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. I’m a sucker for an ocean view, but the swim-out rooms are also great for convenience. When it comes to your wedding week, I always recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club. You’ll get more personalized service throughout your stay as well as exclusive access to certain bars and restaurants. There’s also an adults-only saltwater pool that will feel heavenly after a long night of drinking. (Although the ocean is perfect for that too!)
Dreams Macao Beach has four swimming pools, six a la carte restaurants, seven bars, and a food truck. And of course, an all-you-can-eat buffet that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There’s also a water park with water slides and a lazy river. You’re going to have a blast there!
For the little ones, there’s a supervised Kid’s Club with tons of crafts and games available. Then for the older kids, there’s a Teen’s Club with a cinema, game room, and a disco.
You and your whole family can expect to have an amazing time at Dreams Macao!
A Note about the Beach:
This is a popular surfing beach which means there may be days that the waves can get pretty big. It’s a blast if you’re into surfing, boogie boarding, or body surfing as you can ride the waves all day long.
However, at certain times, there can be a strong undercurrent, and the lifeguards may tell you not to enter certain sections of the water. If you don’t know how to swim or if you’re traveling with small kids, this beach might not be ideal. Many families prefer Cap Cana or Bavaro Beach instead where there are hardly any waves at all.
Weddings at Dreams Macao
The resort offers five different wedding packages, ranging from a simple elopement package to larger packages with extra inclusions. It’s one of few resorts in Punta Cana that actually offers a package for 50-79 guests. (Most resorts offer up to 40 guests and then you pay per person per service after that.) This is a great option if you’re expecting to host a larger party with all of your family and friends.
The resort also offers different pricing if you get married on a weekday versus a weekend, so if you’re on a tighter budget, this might be a good way to save some money. On the other hand, they have a massive 3-day package for South Asian weddings. The sky is the limit!
Dreams Macao Beach offers a ton of different locations for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. You can get married right on the beach in a few different spots, at the skyside terrace with a gorgeous view, or in the gardens for a more private celebration. I recommend a site visit if you can swing it so you can decide which location works best for you and your guests.
You can also add extras to any package you choose to fully customize your day. Check out the Ultimate Guide to Destination Wedding Decor to get some inspiration.
Now Remember:
Something I mention for every resort wedding in Punta Cana is that resort wedding planners will be very slow at communication. This will be the biggest frustration and struggle throughout the wedding planning journey… so get prepared.
It may take weeks or months to hear back from your wedding planner. Even if it seems like an urgent matter or if your wedding day is quickly approaching… They are planning dozens of weddings per month so their schedules are jam-packed. You likely won’t even confirm all the final details until you arrive at the resort.
Now even though it will be frustrating, they do a great job when the wedding day rolls around. Plus they have a comprehensive website that offers a good amount of info about their packages and inclusions so you should be able to find the answers to most of your questions. And we offer a ton of resources on our blog too, to help you find inspiration and prepare for the wedding of your dreams.
But if slow communication and last-minute planning sounds like something that will stress you out way too much, then I’d recommend booking with a private off-resort venue instead. They offer much better communication as well as more customization – and usually better prices too.
Wedding at Dreams Macao Beach – Jamie & Lucas
Jamie and Lucas’ wedding day at Dreams Macao was nothing short of magical. With the stunning Caribbean backdrop and their hearts full of love, it was a day to remember. Jamie kicked off the day with an adorable first look with the dads, setting the tone for the day’s heartfelt moments. The anticipation was palpable as the bride and groom decided to keep the tradition alive and waited until Jamie walked down the aisle to see each other.
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, they faced a fair share of challenges, including navigating the tricky exchange rate to USD and some sluggish communication from the resort. But love conquers all, and their determination paid off. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Jamie and Lucas lit up the night with cold sparklers during their first dance, creating a dazzling display of love and joy.
And of course, it was a beautiful day – a perfect reflection of their love story. Cheers to the happy couple!
