Important Note: This resort changed its name to Hilton La Romana. If you’re considering getting married there, all new information will be listed as Hilton La Romana instead of Dreams La Romana.

When couples plan their wedding in the Dominican Republic, they instantly think of Punta Cana.
But what most of them don’t know is that there are a lot of other places where you can have your wedding ceremony.

They might not be as popular as Punta Cana but they are equally as beautiful. They are also less crowded so it makes the whole experience a lot more intimate if that is what you are looking for.

You can find a few resorts in La Romana, which is located in the south of the island and only one hour drive from the Punta Cana airport, but we can definitely say our favorite resort is Hilton La Romana. The place where the resort is located is called Bayahibe which is a small fishermen’s town known by their clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea and the departure point for the Saona excursions.

For Damarys and Luis, it only took one glance at the gazebo by the ocean in Dreams to know that this would be the place where they would get married. It was love at first sight and you will soon find out why!

Keep calm and love rainy days!

Our day with them was perfect. We enjoyed not only taking pictures of them but spending the day with their lovely family and friends and having laughs and good times despite the weather. And when I say that I mean despite the huge tropical storm that stroke a couple of hours before the ceremony.

The sky was falling down and it seemed that it would never stop, but it did. And it couldn’t have been more perfect!
Keeping a positive energy is hard when it is pouring down on your wedding day, but they did such a good job that the sun came out to celebrate with them and allowed them to have the wedding of their dreams.

The wedding coordinator and the staff at Dreams La Romana were so helpful and positive too. It makes it a lot easier when you have such wonderful people around you, and this is another reason why we love this resort and spa so much.

The rest of the day we enjoyed the rhythms (and dance moves) of bachata and merengue bringing back their Dominican roots. And as we all know, they really know how to have fun!
