Whether you have kids of your own and just need a little time away, or you don’t have kids but you know you want to avoid them during your trip, an adults-only resort is the best way to enjoy a child-free vacation. If you’re getting married in Punta Cana and looking for resorts for your destination wedding, these are great options as well!
Let’s check out the top 8 adults-only resorts in Punta Cana to ensure you have the amazing vacation you’ve been dreaming of.
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana Adults Only
There is not a single thing about Hyatt Zilara you won’t love. This luxurious resort is straight off a movie set. The atmosphere is beautiful and professional, with every inch tastefully decorated! This is also one of the cleanest resorts out there. You’ll really feel like royalty from the moment you arrive.
You will have access to a wide variety of commodities and luxuries, where every desire of yours is already covered! Infinity or heated pools, a great spa service, personal butler, and amazing restaurants… Even a nightclub and some live entertainment to keep you going all night.
Just arriving in Cap Cana will be an experience for you! Some resorts and hotels have a strict schedule for arrivals, but Hyatt Zilara will receive you at any time. They have your comfort as their utmost priority! You will have transportation ready from the airport, and even a complimentary drink waiting for you. Relaxation and luxury, all at once! As an adults-only destination, Hyatt Zilara provides the most exclusive experience you could ever want.
Sanctuary Cap Cana
If you’ve ever dreamed about a tropical vacation, chances are you have a pretty good idea of what Sanctuary Cap Cana is like. Seriously! Everything about it screams relaxation, tranquility, and tropical excellence! It’s constructed in a Spanish style, giving it a unique flavor that you’ll hardly find at other resorts. Beautiful boulevards, a stylish pool, and only the most charming architecture you’ll ever see!
If you think that’s good enough already, then wait until I tell you about your personal concierge. They’ll take care of everything from dinner reservations to excursions outside of the resort so you don’t have to worry about a thing. You’ll hardly want to leave once you arrive, but don’t forget about the crystalline beaches!
This is an adults-only destination that you must consider. If you’re on your honeymoon, that’s even better! And hey, did I mention it’s adults only? No screaming kids will get in your way! So you can enjoy the ultimate peace and quiet as you daze off into paradise.
Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa
Taking one step inside Secrets Cap Cana will be like breathing in pure splendor. Secrets Cap Cana manages to blend in the charms of tropical life with all the luxury you could ever want! The decoration is as impeccable on the inside as it is on the outside, and you’ll truly feel like you’re worth a million dollars throughout your stay.
This is one of the quieter adults-only resorts, geared more towards the 40-65+ age group (as opposed to the 20-30s) so if you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation, then this is a good place for you. If you’re looking for a more party-type atmosphere, Breathless or The Level at Melia will be more your style.
Escape the world for a bit within Secrets Cap Cana and indulge all your whims. Don’t worry, the very friendly staff will make sure everything you ask is provided for! Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa
Looking for a loud, exciting resort with plenty of entertainment? Breathless Punta Cana is the resort for you! They’re known for their high energy and monthly-themed parties! Expect loud music, live DJ sets, and plenty of social events. Breathless is a great resort for a group of friends looking to meet people during their vacation. It’s not so great for older family trips or adults looking for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
Their slogan is “Live Big. Breathe Deep.” so this is the type of energy you can expect throughout your trip.
Located in Uvero Alto, you’ll be about 45 minutes from the airport, but it’s worth it for the golden sand and beautiful turquoise waves. The food is good (not great) but you’ll have a ton of options – especially with access to Dreams Onyx next door. The rooms are a little outdated, but they’re spacious and clean, and let’s be honest, you’re not really coming to stay in the room anyway. You’re in Punta Cana! Get out and enjoy the sunshine (and the rum)!
The Level at Melia Punta Cana
When it comes to adult fun, The Level at Melia offers a deluxe experience. It doesn’t matter whether you’re going alone, with your partner, or with friends, you’re sure to have an amazing time that’ll keep you coming back!
Of course, you won’t miss anything you’d find in other resorts, like the amazing beach, nice rooms, and daily activities. There’s one huge pool right in front of the beach, so you’ll have a beautiful view as you cool off in the water. And there’s a ton of beach chairs and sunbeds so you won’t have to worry about finding a chair.
Normally, there’s a swim-up bar that’s closed at the moment due to covid, but don’t worry! You’ll still have poolside service and a poolside bar to fill up your drinks as often as you’d like. Not to mention the entertainment crew and go-go dancers to get the party started every afternoon. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, there’s also a smaller pool nearby reserved only for guests staying in The Level section.
Another thing I love about The Level is the Quimera restaurant. While most resorts only offer a buffet for breakfast and lunch, Quimera is open all day, serving a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is great, and it also helps to break up the repetitive nature of the buffet.
For dinner, be sure to try the pizza and pasta at Casa Nostra. It’s delicious! And afterward, head back towards the beach (it’s about a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute golf cart ride) to check out the rooftop bar! It’s a stunning view, and also a great place to meet new friends. You’ll really have it all here, so feel free to go wild!
Ocean El Faro El Beso Adults Only
With such a romantic name it’s easy to see why couples are flocking to this resort. Meaning “the lighthouse, the kiss”, they offer you one of the most comfortable and intimate spaces to vacation! You’ll be able to focus entirely on your significant other – or your friends, if you just want some time away with them!
Enjoy romantic and tastefully decorated rooms in an impressive colonial-style design. Spend some time at the poolside bar or treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment! They’re also one of the cleanest resorts out there, and they make sure your safety is their number one priority!
Most resorts offer activities, but this resort takes it to another level. They’re one of the only resorts in Punta Cana where you’ll find a bowling alley! Not to mention plenty of other sports, a gym, and a nightclub if that’s your thing. Be wild and let loose. Forget about your problems – Ocean El Faro El Beso will happily take all of your worries away!
Excellence El Carmen
Although you’ll be a bit far from other resorts, Excellence El Carmen is a massive resort on its own! With some of the friendliest people working here, along with the top-notch service, suddenly it doesn’t feel lonely at all. Then you’ll find 11 restaurants and 15 bars at their facilities to appease your every craving! A wide array of food with worldwide cuisine, a beach snack grill, and delicious drinks… That’s a good start!
This adults-only resort is situated near a palm tree grove, so you’ll always have a beautiful landscape to admire. Then you’ll look outside your window to find crystalline beaches with golden, sugary sand, and a clear sky almost all day long! This is often good enough for most people, but if you still want more, just wait until all the resort-exclusive activities make their way into your schedule.
It’s hard to resist Excellence El Carmen’s excellent service!
Barcelo Bavaro Beach
This resort is the perfect location for a romantic getaway. It’s one of the more budget-friendly options as well. The property is a little older than others on this list so don’t expect that sleek, modern architecture, furniture, and decor, but instead embrace the tropical side of the Dominican Republic.
Barcelo Bavaro Beach has one of the best beaches in the area. The water is almost always clear from seaweed (some years are worse than others), and the sand is white as snow. Okay, maybe not that white, but you get the point. While Barcelo Bavaro Beach is tailored to adults, you’ll also have access to the family side at Barcelo Bavaro Palace right next door. The Bavaro Beach side is nicer, but at least you have more options when it comes to restaurants, bars, and entertainment.

A Few Extra Notes on Adults-Only Resorts in Punta Cana
Punta Cana is a dream destination with excellent beaches and beautiful resorts, but I always feel the need to mention that it is not perfect. You will surely run into hiccups throughout your trip. There may be more seaweed than you’re expecting, or it could be cloudy and rainy for a few days. You may have an issue with your room or staff at the hotel. Sometimes it’s something small that you can brush other and other times it’s something big that you can’t ignore.
If that happens, try to stay calm. Be prepared for the language barrier. And keep in mind that there are a lot of cultural differences between the Dominican Republic and the United States. Especially when it comes to customer service!
Remember you’re on island time. Solutions aren’t going to happen right away. I know it can be frustrating, especially when you pay a lot of money for your vacation, but that’s how things work down here. Cut the resort employees a little slack and trust that they’re doing the best they can. They really do want you to have an amazing vacation!
You’re on vacation. Keep your wits about you. Grab a drink from the bar, and take a walk on the beach if you need to cool down. Nothing is that serious to ruin your vacation. It’s all about mindset, and you’re in control. Choose happiness.
Be kind. It’s worth it, I promise!
