When you picture the perfect destination wedding in Punta Cana, it probably looks a lot like Aarika & Caiden’s celebration. Two days of sunshine, adventure, heartfelt moments, and a whole lot of fun, all surrounded by 50 of their closest family and friends. From a private group excursion to Saona Island to an unforgettable wedding day at Live Aqua Punta Cana, their love story was more than a wedding; it was a full experience. And we were lucky enough to be there to capture every single moment.
Day 1: A Tropical Adventure to Saona Island
Before the vows and the “I do’s,” Aarika & Caiden kicked things off with a private excursion to Saona Island and honestly, could there be a better way to start a wedding celebration in the Dominican Republic?
For those who haven’t been, Saona is a slice of paradise just off the southeast coast. Think: swaying palm trees, powdery sand, and water so turquoise you’ll wonder if someone added an Instagram filter. It’s one of the most famous spots in the Dominican Republic, and for good reason, it feels untouched and postcard-perfect.
The adventure started with a catamaran ride across the Caribbean, complete with music, dancing, and plenty of tropical drinks to get everyone in the celebration spirit. Midway, the group stopped at the famous natural pool, a shallow sandbar where the water sparkles like glass and giant starfish laze beneath the surface. Guests splashed around, took photos, and soaked in that “is this real life?” feeling.
From there, it was on to Saona itself, where a delicious Dominican-style lunch was waiting, grilled meats, fresh fish, rice, plantains, and tropical fruit. The group had plenty of time to relax on the beach, swim in the warm ocean, and enjoy the beauty of the island. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, a way to gather everyone together before the big day while also letting them experience one of the Dominican Republic’s most iconic destinations.
By the end of the day, everyone was sun-kissed, sandy, and smiling. It set the tone beautifully for what was to come.
A Warm Welcome at Live Aqua Punta Cana
That evening, Aarika & Caiden hosted their welcome dinner back at their resort, Live Aqua Punta Cana. If you haven’t been, Live Aqua is a five-star, adults-only resort tucked along Uvero Alto beach. Known for its modern design, gourmet dining, and spa-like atmosphere, it’s both chic and relaxed, the kind of place where you can sip cocktails by the infinity pool one moment and walk straight to a pristine stretch of beach the next.
The welcome dinner was held onsite, with cocktails flowing, delicious food, and music filling the night. One of the most memorable parts? The speeches. Aarika & Caiden made the thoughtful choice to have all their speeches during the welcome dinner instead of the wedding reception. This gave their loved ones the space to speak from the heart while also freeing up time during the reception for pure celebration.
With everyone gathered, glasses clinking, and laughter echoing through the evening, it was the perfect way to officially kick off the wedding festivities.
Day 2: The Wedding Day
The morning of the wedding brought a buzz of excitement across the resort. From the getting ready suites, where hair and makeup brushes were flying, to the groomsmen’s room where ties were adjusted and jokes traded, there was this wonderful mix of anticipation and joy. As photographers, these are some of our favorite moments, the little details, the happy nerves, the energy building before the big reveal.
The Ceremony by the Sea
Aarika & Caiden chose a gorgeous beachside ceremony, framed by the ocean and golden light of the Caribbean sun. Live Aqua’s beachfront is one of those dream settings where you barely need decoration, nature does most of the work. Still, the setup was stunning, with an elegant arch, tropical florals, and rows of white chairs for their 50 guests.
When Aarika walked down the sandy aisle, all eyes were on her. Caiden’s face said it all, that mix of awe, pride, and love that only happens once in a lifetime. The vows were heartfelt, the setting was magical, and before long, cheers erupted as they were pronounced husband and wife.
The Party Begins
From there, the celebration moved into full swing. The reception was lively, filled with fun details and personalized touches that reflected the couple’s style. One of the most unique? The sunglasses trend where each guest received custom sunglasses, and we snapped photos of everyone wearing them. Later, these photos were compiled into a playful video montage that perfectly captured the vibe of the day: fun, stylish, and unforgettable.
After heartfelt dances with parents, Aarika & Caiden surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance. It was equal parts romantic and impressive, the kind of moment people talk about long after the wedding is over.
And then came the cake cutting, followed by a reception that turned into a true dance party. Music, drinks, laughter, and plenty of moves on the dance floor, this was not a crowd that held back when it came to celebrating. The energy was high all night, and everywhere we turned, there were smiles, hugs, and happy tears.
