Maternity Photographer in Punta Cana

Pregnancy goes by incredibly fast! One day you are waiting to meet your little one and before you know it, those months are already a memory. A maternity photoshoot in Punta Cana is a beautiful way to slow things down and capture this part of your story before baby arrives.

Whether you are traveling here for a babymoon or just want to take advantage of being in the Caribbean, our job as your maternity photographer in Punta Cana is simple: relaxed, natural photos that focus on you and this special time in your life. We photograph maternity sessions on the beaches and around Punta Cana resorts during the beautiful hours of the morning and sunset. Nothing feels overly posed or complicated because we want you to look back at your photos and remember how this moment actually felt.

What Does a Maternity Session in Punta Cana Look Like?

Maternity photography is usually much slower and more relaxed than a typical couple’s photoshoot. We can meet you at your resort or choose a quieter beach around Bávaro, depending on the vibe you have in mind. Then we just take our time and enjoy the moments. We’ll walk along the beach for a few minutes, stop to sit together and let you enjoy the view, or simply give you a moment to relax while we capture what is happening naturally.

And you don’t have to be experienced in front of a camera. We’ll give you some gentle direction when needed but we’re not going to fill the entire session with awkward poses. Most sessions last around an hour with plenty of opportunities to stop and rest whenever you need to.

Some of our favorite maternity photos are the simplest ones. A hand resting on your belly, your partner looking at you, your dress moving in the breeze or the two of you watching the sunset together. These moments say much more than a perfectly posed photograph.

When Should You Schedule Your Maternity Photos?

For most clients, we recommend scheduling maternity photos between 28 and 34 weeks. Your bump is usually beautifully defined during this period, while you are still comfortable enough to enjoy an hour on the beach.

If your trip falls earlier or later than that, we can still make it work. We photograph maternity sessions at any stage of pregnancy and we simply adapt: less walking, more time to rest, and a location closer to where you are staying.

The one thing that really helps is telling us your travel dates early. Sunrise and sunset move through the year, and knowing your dates in advance is what lets us give you the best light of your stay.

Where We Shoot Maternity Photos in Punta Cana

Punta Cana gives you plenty of beautiful off-resort locations for maternity photoshoots. Macao Beach is one of our favorites, with its wide open sand and that natural, untouched feeling. Juanillo Beach in Cap Cana is the other one we recommend often: calmer water, palm trees and a more polished look. The quieter stretches around Bávaro and Uvero Alto also work beautifully, especially early in the morning.

We also capture maternity sessions at resorts throughout Punta Cana, Bávaro and Cap Cana. If you are staying at a resort with beautiful gardens, palm trees, pools or ocean views, we can often incorporate those areas into your session too. One thing to keep in mind is that most resorts charge a vendor’s fee for outside photographers, which is part of why we often suggest a location just outside the hotel instead.

For beach photography, we especially love the light around golden hour. The hour before sunset tends to give us soft, warm light that makes your skin glow and creates that dreamy Caribbean feeling in your photos. If you’re not a fan of the heat, early morning photo sessions are another wonderful option. The temperatures are usually cooler, the beaches tend to be quieter and the early morning light can be absolutely gorgeous.

What Should I Wear for My Maternity Photos?

When choosing an outfit, think about movement. Flowy maternity dresses and lightweight fabrics work best on the beach because they move naturally in the Caribbean breeze. White, cream and soft pastel shades are popular choices but there is no rule saying you have to wear a traditional maternity dress.

Many couples visiting Punta Cana for a babymoon like to bring two outfits for their maternity photoshoot. If you would like to change halfway through the session, we can keep the change quick and simple so you get two different looks without losing too much photography time. For the beach, sandals work perfectly fine and going barefoot is always a good option too. If you would like more ideas, we put together a longer guide on how to prepare for your maternity photoshoot in Punta Cana.

Babymoon Photoshoot in Punta Cana

A babymoon is such a lovely excuse to slow down and enjoy some time together before your baby arrives. If you are already planning a babymoon trip to Punta Cana, a photoshoot is an easy way to capture this part of your story.

A babymoon photoshoot is essentially the same as a maternity session. The only difference is your entire vacation is about celebrating the two of you and your new arrival, rather than just the hour during your photoshoot. Most couples choose to do their session a day or two after arriving, once they’ve settled into the resort, relaxed a little and gotten into vacation mode. So if a babymoon is already on your calendar, send us your travel dates and resort and we’ll help you choose a location and the best time for the light during your stay!

Pregnancy Announcement Photoshoots in Punta Cana

There is something pretty special about getting to tell your loved ones “We’re having a baby!” A pregnancy announcement photoshoot gives you a chance to capture that excitement and turn the big news into photos you can share with family and friends. Whether it is just the two of you, your first child getting ready to become a big brother or sister, or a creative announcement with a little Punta Cana scenery, we can help you make it personal.

Planning to announce your pregnancy during your Punta Cana vacation? Send us your dates and ideas and we’ll help you plan a fun, memorable way to share your news. We keep these sessions relaxed, natural and fun with plenty of room for the excitement and emotion to come through.

Do You Photograph Gender Reveals?

Yes! We love photographing a gender reveal in Punta Cana and it can easily be added to the end of your maternity session when everyone is already comfortable in front of the camera, which often makes those reactions feel much more natural. We can also photograph a gender reveal on its own, without the maternity portraits, for the same price.

If you’re planning a gender reveal photoshoot in Punta Cana, just let us know what you have in mind when you send us your dates and we can plan the timing and setup with you. Smoke bombs, balloons, confetti and other reveal items are not provided, so you will need to bring or purchase those before your session.

What Is Included and How Much It Costs

Our maternity photoshoot includes approximately one hour of photography and at least 70 fully edited images. Your finished photographs are delivered through an online gallery within 10 days, so you can easily view, download and share your images with family and friends.

Why Book a Maternity Session During Your Punta Cana Trip?

A babymoon can be such a special trip, it may be one of the last vacations you take before life changes in a very big way. You will probably take plenty of photos on your phone while you’re here, but there is something different about having professional photographs from this particular moment. You can actually be in the pictures together rather than always being the person behind the camera.

And these are photos you can keep long after the beach, the resort and the babymoon are over. We’ve had clients tell us that they printed their maternity photos for the nursery, shared them with grandparents or simply kept them as a reminder of what life was like just before their little one arrived. Traveling with older children? We photograph family sessions in Punta Cana too, and it is easy to combine both in the same hour.

We have been photographing couples and families in Punta Cana for more than 16 years, and along the way our clients have left us more than 250 five star reviews.

“From start to finish, everything felt professional, organized, and easy. He made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and helped capture such natural moments without anything feeling forced.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a maternity photoshoot in Punta Cana cost?

Our maternity photoshoot starts at $450 and includes around one hour of photography and at least 70 fully edited images. Your photos are delivered in an online gallery within 10 days, so you can easily view, download and share them with family and friends. If you have something extra in mind such as more time, additional family photos or combining your maternity session with another type of shoot, just let us know when you contact us and we can discuss the options!

Can we do the photoshoot at our resort?

Yes! We photograph maternity sessions at resorts throughout Punta Cana and many couples prefer the convenience of not having to travel anywhere. However, most resorts charge clients a vendor’s fee to allow their professional photographer to work on the resort’s property, so we recommend speaking with their guest services department for their current policies and fees before booking. We often recommend choosing a beach or location just outside the resort instead to help you avoid any additional fees, and many of these locations are quieter than the main hotel beach anyway.

How do we get to the photoshoot location?

We can arrange transportation to and from the location for you. For a couple it is usually simple, and for larger groups there may be an additional cost depending on how many people are travelling with you. Tell us where you are staying and how many of you there will be, and we will confirm everything before you book.

What if I am traveling without my partner?

That is absolutely fine! Many of our maternity sessions are just the mom-to-be and there is something really beautiful about having photographs that are all about you and your baby. We’ll guide you throughout the session so you will never be left wondering how to stand or what to do. We keep the direction simple and natural and give you plenty of time to relax between photos.

Can we include our older children in the session?

Absolutely! We photograph plenty of maternity sessions with older brothers and sisters, and they are a wonderful part of the story. We usually recommend starting with the family photos while the kids are still happy to cooperate. After that, they can take a little break and play while we concentrate on photos of you, your partner and your baby bump.

How far in advance should we book our maternity session?

The earlier, the better, especially if you’re traveling between December and April. These months are the busy season in Punta Cana, both for the resorts and for photography sessions. Booking two to three months ahead usually gives you plenty of flexibility with dates and times. That said, don’t worry if you’re already here or your trip is coming up soon. If you only have a few days left, get in touch anyway since sometimes we have space open up or can fit in an extra session.

How soon do we get our photos?

Your fully edited gallery will be ready within 10 days of your session. You will receive your photos through an online gallery where you can view, download and share them with your family. That means you won’t have to wait long to see your maternity photos and will have them well before baby arrives, with enough time to make prints for the nursery!

What happens if it rains?

Rain in the Caribbean can be a little unpredictable but the good news is that sudden showers often pass fairly quickly. If it looks like the rain will only be temporary, we may move your session a little later, but if it is a really rainy day then we will work to reschedule you at no additional cost!
