Even if you’re not getting married in Punta Cana, or you decide not to have a big, traditional wedding ceremony, you can still have a wedding photoshoot. You two deserve to celebrate! This is such an important time in your lives. You might as well get your photo taken so you can always remember this special occasion.

There are so many reasons to do a wedding photoshoot. Maybe you had a courthouse wedding, and you didn’t get a lot of photos from the big day. Maybe you eloped and didn’t get any photos at all. Or maybe you had a big wedding and you have a ton of photos already, but you just can’t wait to wear your wedding dress again. All of these are great reasons!

Even if you’re coming to Punta Cana on vacation and just want some wedding photos on the beach. That works too! You don’t need a specific reason to have a wedding photoshoot – other than to get amazing photos! Isn’t that good enough?

Put on a white dress. Get your hair and makeup done. And let’s head to Macao Beach for a photoshoot.

I’ll tell you all about this beautiful beach in Punta Cana, and then I’ll show you Kensey and Andrew’s wedding photoshoot there. Ready?

Macao Beach in Punta Cana

This is one of my favorite beaches in Punta Cana! Somehow the water always looks beautiful. It’s that bright shade of blue that everyone’s always dreaming about. And it’s crystal clear.

The sand is a little darker than the white powder in Punta Cana or Bavaro Beach, but it’s still spectacular. And this is one of the places that seems to be least affected by seaweed. Of course, there’s always seaweed on the beach, but it doesn’t get too bad at Macao Beach.

If you’re looking for a nice place to relax for the day, this is the beach to visit. You can play in the waves all day long. Just make sure to bring an umbrella because the sun can be pretty strong. You can also rent an umbrella and beach chairs for the day. The vendors on the beach are happy to help you out.

You might as well order a pina colada while you take in the sun. They’ll serve it to you straight from the pineapple. It’s truly delicious!!

And if you’re looking for an authentic Dominican meal, order the fried fish and tostones. It’ll be one of the best meals you have on your vacation.

Oh, I forgot! You’re here to learn about couple’s photoshoots at Macao Beach… My mistake.

Is Macao Beach nice for photos?

The answer is yes! Do you really have to ask?

Macao Beach is one of the best beaches on the entire island. So of course it’s the perfect backdrop for a wedding photoshoot! It’s the perfect backdrop for any type of photoshoot. (Just check out this Trash the Dress session.)

You just can’t beat that beautiful water, the luscious palm trees, and the golden sand. Plus there are so many different places to take photos on this beach.

We can head down to the edge where there’s a rocky cliff. There you’ll usually find a couple of fishing boats, too. We can walk along the shore or even jump into the water. There’s a wooden bridge that looks great for photos. And there’s a ton of palms and greenery to change it up, too.

It’s hard to find a better spot for a photoshoot than Macao Beach.

When is the best time for a wedding photoshoot at Macao Beach?

This all depends on your own preference, but typically, the best time is 7:30am or 1.5-2 hours before sunset. In the morning, the sun is shining and reflecting off the water just perfectly so you’ll get bright, vibrant colors in your photos. It’s not too hot out yet so you won’t be sweating and uncomfortable throughout the shoot.

The best part:

There are fewer people on the beach in the morning so you’ll have a much more intimate photo session.

Not a morning person?

Then the late afternoon will look beautiful for a wedding photoshoot too!

The time will change depending on the time of year, but typically two hours before sunset is a good rule of thumb. If you like romantic lighting with softer colors, then this is the time for you.

Then let’s keep moving along.

Wedding Photoshoot at Macao Beach – Kensey & Andrew

Andrew and Kensey were planning on getting married at a courthouse in the US, but they still wanted to do a wedding photoshoot on their trip to Punta Cana. And why shouldn’t they?

They got all dressed up, Kensey in a white veil and white lace dress, ready for the camera. She even had a little bouquet of colored roses.

They brought along a glass box for their wedding rings and a heart-shaped bottle they filled with sand. Little extras like this make a wedding photoshoot even more special.

We took them to Macao Beach for their wedding photoshoot, and it was absolutely perfect. They decided on an afternoon shoot so the colors were soft and romantic. Towards the end of the photoshoot, the sun was setting, and the lighting was spectacular. Ideal for a romantic wedding photoshoot on the beach.
