Normally when we set up a couple’s photoshoot, we’re heading off of the resort on a little adventure to Macao Beach. But every once in a while, we get a couple who would rather take photos at their hotel. In this case, it was at Live Aqua Beach Resort in Punta Cana. So we said, why not?
There are always tons of beautiful places around the resort to take photos! Whether it’s in the gardens, by the pool, in the lobby, or at the beach, your options are endless for beautiful photo opportunities.
Now, I have to admit:
This was our first time at Live Aqua. It’s a brand new resort and we were eager to check it out! And I’ll tell you… it did not disappoint!
Below, I’ll you some inside details about the property and explain what the process looks like to take photos inside. Then I’ll show you Ekaterina and Andrew’s gorgeous couple’s photoshoot. But before we get to the juicy part, let me tell you why you might consider staying at Live Aqua on your next vacation.
Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana
If you’re looking for a relaxing, romantic vacation, Live Aqua is an excellent choice. It opened on February 1st, 2021 so it’s brand-spanking-new. And it’s truly a breath of fresh air. You’ll absolutely fall in love with this place.
I’m usually a little wary of new resorts like this as they always have some kinks to work out, but Live Aqua seems to have a good handle on things so far. Their staff was friendly and attentive, the food is tasty, and the rooms are clean and spacious.
The best part about new resorts is that everything on the premises is brand new too. They haven’t had enough time to get dirty or run down. Everything is clean and sparkling. That’s a nice feeling to have in Punta Cana.
Live Aqua is an adults-only property so you’ll want to leave the little ones behind. But don’t expect to find the loud and crazy party atmosphere that is common at other resorts in the Dominican Republic.
It’s a much more quiet, tranquil resort. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying a few drinks by the pool. Soaking up the sunshine. Reading a good book. And spending some quality time with your partner.
Now don’t get me wrong, they do have nightly entertainment with live bands, fire shows, and a nightclub on the rooftop – so be sure to check those out during your stay. (And don’t forget to book your beach photoshoot.)
Is Live Aqua Punta Cana Big?
No, it’s not. It’s actually on the smaller side compared to most resorts in Punta Cana. There are 347 suites.
In comparison, Melia Punta Cana has 544 and RIU Palace Bavaro has over 600. Hard Rock Punta Cana has a whopping 1,775!
The best part about smaller resorts like this is that it’s easy to walk anywhere you need to go. No need to rely on golf carts to get you around. Plus, you’ll still have 8 restaurants and 7 pools to choose from!
How Far is Live Aqua Punta Cana from the Airport?
The resort is located in Uvero Alto which is about 35-40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.
Couple’s Photoshoots at Live Aqua
Now that we’ve gone through the details of the resort, let’s get into the good stuff. That’s why you’re really here, isn’t it? To learn about the photoshoots? Good! That’s why I’m here too.
So as I mentioned earlier, Live Aqua Punta Cana is a stunning resort. You’ll feel a calming energy as you walk around, surrounded by fountains and gorgeous pools. The colors of greenery, light coral walls, and bright blue water are perfect for photos.
We took tons of photos in the main areas before heading to the beach because there are just so many beautiful spots. Well that, and the fact that the beach wasn’t having its best day… At this particular photoshoot, there was a lot of seaweed at the beach. This is common in the summertime so we were expecting it, but it doesn’t look great in photos.
The good news is:
This will change depending on the time of year. Don’t expect mounds of seaweed all year long. And thankfully, there’s a little drop-off before the water, so we were able to hide the seaweed pretty well in the photos.
Check it out and then let’s keep moving:
Can You Bring an Outside Photographer onto the Resort?
Here is where things get a little tricky… Resorts in Punta Cana can be pretty strict when it comes to allowing outside guests and vendors onto their property. They usually have their own photography company (as well as other services like the salon, spa, etc.) and they’d rather you book with their in-house vendors than hiring someone else.
But here’s the thing:
The quality on the resort isn’t always the best. You may not connect with their photos or like the style they offer. You may have found someone online (cough cough) that you’ve wanted to work with for a long time. So what do you do? Well, it depends on your resort.
Some resorts will charge you a day pass, while others will require that you pay a vendor fee (and the vendor fees can often be outrageous). As each resort is different, it’s always best to check with yours before booking any outside vendors. Trust me, it will save you the headache when your photoshoot date rolls around.
And don’t worry! There’s always a solution.
If your resort doesn’t allow outside vendors or the fee is too high, we can always go to another beach nearby for your couple’s photoshoot. Macao Beach is a great choice!
Now, are you ready to see some photos?
Couple’s Photoshoot – Ekaterina & Andrew
These two came to Punta Cana in honor of their 10-year anniversary. How beautiful is that? I’d say it’s something worth celebrating. And definitely worthy of a photoshoot. Wouldn’t you agree?
And honestly, who doesn’t want to celebrate an anniversary on a beautiful beach in Punta Cana?
The most amazing part is that they are still so in love! It seems their bond has only grown stronger over the years. We feel so lucky that we were able to be a part of their journey and that we could capture this special milestone in their relationship. Wishing them another 10, 20, 30 years together.
Ready to see their pictures? Alright. Here goes!
