Deborah Parson replied to the topic Will you be planning your Honeymoon in a different resort? in the forum Resort Weddings 4 weeks ago
We haven’t even discussed the honeymoon yet but this is a fantastic thing to bring up that I didn’t even consider. I am not sure if we will be staying in Punta Cana for the honeymoon at all. I know my future hubby mentioned wanting to go to Jamaica or the Bahamas.
I haven’t even picked out a dress let alone decided on colors! AHH!
I might be a bit behind here but I want to decide on the resort first. I think seeing what the resort looks like and the actual place where I will be wed will help me decide. I do like the idea of using pastel colors.
I see a lot of women who have asked this same question and the answers are mostly saying hair up, light dress, and some sort of sandal is best for the bride but what about everyone else? What about the groom!?
I would imagine a beach wedding in Punta Cana will be hot so it would seem like wearing a full suit is a bit much for the men. Are there…Read More
Heather – Did you get that from a list somewhere? Like the things you mentioned? If so, I would love to take a look at it.
Sara – That is a great idea, unfortunately, I am having trouble of thinking of anything outside of what I mentioned in the OP!! lol
Okay so I was using an ad-blocker and I did disable it. It seemed like it wanted to work but then it went all weird on me and didn’t translate anything. I was also using Chrome.
I just installed another browser (Firefox) and it appears to be working now! Thanks ladies!!
So this is what that dance looks like!
It seems pretty easy to learn. I know my sister mentioned doing some kind of local’s dance but she didn’t specify the name. I will have to ask her if this is it.
I might just have to learn it with her so me and my boyfriend can do the dance at the wedding too!
Bayley replied to the topic What would be considered the best time of the year for a wedding? in the forum Dominican Weddings / Other Locations 4 weeks ago
Some people actually do go closer to Christmas since they have time off but I guess this is a very busy time of year for the area. You’d likely have to book WAAAAY in advance if you do book anything near a major holiday or spring break.
If you like themed resorts and don’t mind casinos or even enjoy them, then this is a great option. A lot of people do get married here since it makes it like a fun tropical paradise with plenty to do all day that is very close by.
Bayley replied to the topic What are some things that you have to consider that not all resorts offer? in the forum Resort Weddings 4 weeks ago
I’d say the weather is a big one. Depending on what kind of wedding you are planning, if you do one outdoors or semi-outdoors and it is very hot or in mid-rain season, then it can be a bit of a problem! I think it is a good idea to have a backup. Some resorts might offer this from what I read in the event of bad weather or too much humidity.
Okay well, I have a bit of a contradicting answer… I don’t use ad-blockers but it also doesn’t work for me. I am on Chrome so maybe it is an issue with the latest Chrome browser. I don’t have a second browser installed either to check.
I heard of the dance and I am going to look into what that is!
I guess that is true as well. You won’t really know everything until you pick the resort and see what they have to offer.
Thanks for letting me know guys! I wasn’t sure if it was something I was overlooking or what. I will let my sister know. I think that may be a good option for their honeymoon, great idea!!
Oh right, I guess that would make sense. Just looking through pictures you’d think it would be so much more expensive though! My friend said that most things cost less there to attract more visitors so they bring in more money since the area is generally living on a lower end scale in terms of income and quality of life. I think that is sad! But I…Read More
I will be letting the resort handle it. If they do not do favors, my friend will be making them for me. We aren’t going to have a huge wedding so it isn’t that big of a deal.
Sara is right, those are still considered wetter months.
However, you can look at this another way and if it does rain, it may end up looking really beautiful. I have seen some rain storms on the ocean and they are quite amazing. Just be sure where you get married will be covered and you should be fine!
Oh yes and my fiance is dreading it!! HA!
He hates dancing but I told him I want to have one slow dance and one fun dance, then he can be let off the hook. We will likely be taking classes just because he has the rhythm of a stick in the mud and I am not exactly a graceful ballerina.
I have to agree with Sara. This is just my opinion but I think of all the places out there, you would be more happy long term if you went with something more exotic and less familiar.
